a16z crypto is the cryptocurrency and blockchain investment arm of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Founded in 2018 and led by managing partner Chris Dixon, it invests in startups building blockchain, cryptocurrency, stablecoin, decentralized finance, and web3 infrastructure. It has raised five dedicated crypto funds with more than 9.8 billion dollars in committed capital, including a 2.2 billion dollar fifth fund announced in May 2026. Portfolio companies include Coinbase, Uniswap, OpenSea, Solana, Phantom, EigenLayer, and Kalshi. Andreessen Horowitz is registered as an investment adviser with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
