Aave
Aave is a decentralized finance lending protocol governed by the Aave DAO, with development led by Aave Labs (formerly Avara), founded by Stani Kulechov. The protocol originated as ETHLend in 2017 and relaunched as Aave in 2020. Users supply and borrow crypto assets across multiple blockchains. Aave issues GHO, an overcollateralized decentralized stablecoin minted by borrowers; the savings product sGHO launched in July 2025. In August 2025 Aave Labs launched Aave Horizon, an Ethereum lending market where institutions borrow stablecoins against tokenized real-world assets, with partners including Circle, Superstate, Centrifuge, VanEck, Ripple, WisdomTree and Securitize. Aave V4 is the next protocol version. AAVE token holders vote on protocol parameters.
